It’s no secret that the Cleveland Browns desperately need a promising, young quarterback to lead them into the future. It’s also no secret that former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was one of the most electrifying players in the entire country over the last couple seasons. In a situation that simply needs to improve in Cleveland, who better to lead the franchise than Manziel? The Browns need a playmaker at the quarterback position and Manziel provides fantastic playmaking ability. Manziel and the Browns are simply a perfect match for each other.
Manziel became more of a passer than a runner in his second season, and there was improvement across the board for the young man. Manziel’s statistics aren’t the only thing that improved, however, as he also took significant steps forward in becoming more of a traditional quarterback. Manziel already has a better arm than anyone on Cleveland’s current roster, and there is still plenty of room for improvement for the young player. For a team that was often hindered by poor play from quarterbacks, the Browns would be wise to do just about anything possible to bring Manziel to town, as he would immediately represent an upgrade, all while still having room to develop and grow.
With Manziel in the fold for the Browns, a team that managed to have the 11th ranked passing offense in the league with Brandon Weeden at the helm could conceivably make a jump into the top 10 in passing yards simply by adding Manziel to the lineup. Not to mention that although Manziel will need to be careful with his body, he would almost surely help to improve a rushing game that ranked 27th in the league, as he’s pretty well known for being able to run the ball effectively.
Overall, while Manziel might not be the perfect prospect and the Cleveland Browns might not be the picture of a perfect team, the two are a perfect fit for each other. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been outspoken in his desire to bring Manziel to town, and by adding him to an offense with some solid linemen, and a receiver in Josh Gordon that looks like a perennial all-pro, the Browns’ offense could take major strides forward in their rebuilding effort.
The Browns realize it, and it’s time for us as fans to realize it — Johnny Manziel would be a perfect fit for the Cleveland Browns.
