LaGarrette Blount might have played his way into a starting role in the NFL once again. However, he likely won’t be getting that kind of opportunity with the New England Patriots. Considering Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley are both still on the Patriots’ roster, it’s going to be hard for New England to justify spending more money on an inconsistent running back like Blount.
Even still, that doesn’t mean a desperate team such as the Tennessee Titans wouldn’t be interested. Titans running back Chris Johnson and new head coach Ken Whisenhunt apparently are on different ends of the spectrum, which likely means Tennessee is going to cut it’s overpaid back. And if the Titans decided to pass on the free agent Blount then he would surely be courted by other teams such as the: New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns.
On the other hand, the only way I see Blount staying in New England is if he signs a team-friendly contract just because of his love for the Patriots. NFL players talk about the “Patriot Way” all the time as it has been known to convince players like Tim Brown into accepting minor deals just to stay in Foxborough. At 27 years old, Blount has a big decision to make on whether he will stay in New England or test the free agent waters for a second straight offseason.
