Kirby Wilson Would Be A Nice Hire For Baltimore Ravens’ OC Position
In the Baltimore Ravens‘ search for a new offensive coordinator, an interesting name has now surfaced as a potential suitor. Kirby Wilson, who is the current running backs coach for the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
For several weeks I’ve been campaigning for Norv Turner to be the Ravens ‘ new OC, but alas he took the same position with the Minnesota Vikings instead. Life goes on though, and now I’m shifting my campaigning over to Wilson.
First and foremost, taking an up and coming coach from your most hated rival is a dream scenario. You help yourselves while hurting your rival, figuratively speaking of course. In 2008 I was all about former Steelers coach Bill Cowher becoming the new coach of the Ravens. Obviously that didn’t happen, but John Harbaugh has done just fine in that spot.
Wilson probably would have been OC for the Steelers, but a fire in Wilson’s home but him in a coma and fighting for his life. The Steelers would go on to hire Todd Haley as the new OC in 2012. I loved the move as a fan of the Ravens and so did a lot of other Ravens fans. Can anyone say red flag?
Wilson could definitely revive the Ravens 29th ranked rush offense from 2013, which is definitely a priority]going forward. Joe Flacco is as good QB, but not good enough to offset a non existent running game. It’s time the Ravens tried getting back to their hard nosed physical ways. With Wilson at the OC helm, I believe that would happen. We’ll see what happens in the next couple of days.
