San Diego Chargers Fans Need To Root For Seattle Seahawks In Super Bowl XLVIII

First of all, San Diego Chargers fans, why would you think about rooting for Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos and Omaha? The Chargers lost their final game to the Broncos. It might not be as heartbreaking as before, but a loss to the division in the playoffs still stings. Conversely, the Seattle Seahawks are probably the cool kids in high school you wish you could have been. They have a blueprint of success that was once the Chargers’ blueprint — run and play defense.

So, allow me to break it down for you, Chargers fans, and tell you why you need to root for the Seahawks:

Pete Carroll could have been your coach.

Yeah, he promptly denied any involvement in the search to replace Marty Schottenheimer, but think about it. If the Chargers got rid of Norv Turner in 2010, who knows who would have walked through those doors.

Defense wins championships.

You want to believe that defense wins championships and that those Seahawks are the No. 1 ranked team defense. At one point in history, the Chargers had a stout defense like the Seahawks. Ah, the good old days with Jamal Williams clogging up the middle for Shawne Merriman and Shaun Philips to get to the quarterback while Antonio Cromartie defends passes.

Shaun Philips will get a ring.

The guy burned his bridges in San Diego with his off field character. He might get a ring this time. Would you really want that?

Either way, the Chargers face the Seahawks and the Broncos next season. One of those teams will be the defending Super Bowl champion, and you would hate it to be the division rival.
