Denver Broncos: Containing Marshawn Lynch Will Be Key

The Denver Broncos‘ run defense has done an exceptional job at stopping running backs like Ryan Mathews and LeGarrett Blount. The final test for the Broncos’ defense is the man nicknamed “Beast Mode.”

With the Broncos taking on the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday at Metlife Stadium, the Broncos need to rely on their run defense one more time against a running back who is of few words, but plenty of action. Stopping Lynch will be a huge test for the Broncos. The Seahawks rank in the top five in the run offense and it is clear to see why that is so.

Lynch has been quite the running back since playing for the Seahawks since the 2010 season. His running style makes him one of the strongest players on the roster; he was well known for his touchdown run in the wild card round in 2011 against the New Orleans Saints. So, it’s safe to say that this Seahawks running back can be a huge threat.

The Broncos’ defense ranks in the top 10 in the run defense, so it will be an interesting task on stopping the running back, but if they can limit Lynch, the Seahawks are going to have to rely on Russell Wilson and the passing game, which ranks near the bottom. Despite how suspect the Broncos’ pass defense can be, they should be able to hold their own against the receivers. Wilson can use his mobile abilities, but if the running game is shut down, it could spell an issue for him. While Wilson is a good quarterback, he cannot be relied upon in the passing game.

The Broncos should be up to the task of stopping Lynch. If they can succeed in that task, the Broncos can see themselves celebrating when the clock hits triple zero.
