All Of Houston Is Being Hired By Baltimore Ravens

Is it just me, or is all of Houston moving to Baltimore?  The Baltimore Ravens’ roster has players who previously played for the Houston Texans and now John Harbaugh has hired not one, not two, but three coaches from the Texans. What is the link between the Ravens and the Texans? Can they be successful in 2014?

Jacoby Jones and Vonta Leach have both spent time playing in the “Lone-Star-State” under coach Gary Kubiak and it is rumored that both players lobbied to get Kubiak in the building. The real question is, why is Harbaugh hiring his entire regime? Baltimore had already hired the Texans’ former offensive coordinator and now QB coach Rick Dennison; now they have hired another former Texan in TE coach Brian Pariani. What’s next, they hire Larry Kirksey as their wide receivers coach? Next they will announce the Ravens have just signed Houston’s former water boy. Jim Hostler did just leave for the Buffalo Bills to be their senior offensive assistant (whatever that means). I am seeing a pattern here with this past year’s Ravens’ coaches and it might sound repetitive, but there is a mass exodus in Baltimore on the offensive side of the ball and I think I know why.

Will Montgomery was the running backs coach in Baltimore and was allegedly relieved of his duties. I honestly think he quit, because he had done such great things for the run game to see it all go to trash because of a newly inserted coach that Harbaugh would not hold accountable for the franchise low in rushing in 2013. Hostler probably saw the same lack of accountability and took his talents up to Buffalo in spite of it. The fact that he was overlooked for the OC job after serving loyally under Harbaugh since 2008 may have had something to do with it as well. I am not sure what happened to TE coach Wade Harman, who was the longest tenured coach in the Ravens organization, but I’m sure he got tired of the malarkey as well.

What I am getting at is almost all of the offensive coaches in Baltimore have left and one remains, Juan Castillo.  His responsibility was run-game coordinator in 2013, and they mean to tell us that he is one of the only coaches being brought into the 2014 season? The buddy system in the NFL is why coaches get fired and Harbaugh will be if this new regime of Texas Super Friends and Castillo does not produce better than last year.
