Nothing can make a father happier than seeing his son proud of his work. Denver Broncos DE Shaun Phillips found out just how rewarding it is to be a father following his team’s loss in Super Bowl XLVIII in a text messaging exchange with his young son, Jaylen.

Not many people can feel just how the Broncos felt after a crushing defeat in which the team fell 43-8 in the most important game of each of their players’ careers.

However, receiving texts like the one that Phillips received from his son following the most disappointing performance during a lifetime can easily motivate a player to reach that stage once again and finish with a different result. Want to know exactly what was said between Phillips and his son? Check it out:

You can’t make that stuff up. Okay, you could, but it wouldn’t be nearly as touching as the real deal. Phillips was obviously upset that he may have let his young son down who looked up to him as a role model, but his son reassured him that he did nothing wrong and that he was still the youngster’s hero.

Phillips was so touched by the text message that he tweeted it out, showing how touched he was by his own son.

I’m sure it’s extremely rewarding being a father in this situation, but even as an outsider, a text like that can give you goosebumps.
