With the NFL season now officially over, there’s one thing to look forward to: the NFL Draft. Here, I’ll take a look at some names that could be on the Buffalo Bills’ radar. We already looked at Anthony Barr from  UCLA, but there is another outside linebacker that could find his way to Orchard Park: Khalil Mack.

What He Brings: First and foremost: Mack is a hometown boy. He played his college ball at the University of Buffalo and would certainly make headlines as the hometown first-round pick.

Secondly, he would fill a need at outside linebacker that needs to be addressed badly. There are questions as to whether or not he’s a defensive cornerstone, but most seem to think he’s a highly athletic linebacker who does everything well. Paired with Kiko Alonso, he would give the Bills one of the best young linebacker duos in the league.

What He Would Do For The Bills: He would not only provide another highly-talented piece to a talented, emerging defense, but he would take some heat off Alonso in the middle. He would also add to the Bills pass rush, giving them yet another threat off the edge that quarterbacks will have nightmares about.

Unlike Barr, Mack seems like he could be an every-down kind of linebacker. Getting another linebacker on the field that can make tackles from sideline-to-sideline would be huge for a group that struggled against the run.

Value: Mack is all over the place, depending on which mock you’re reading. To some, he’s a top-five pick and one of the best defensive prospects in the entire draft. To others, he’s a late first-round pick. So really, it’s kind of in the eye of the beholder.

Either way, addressing a big need with a first-round pick is always good value, but getting an athlete and player the caliber of Mack would be big. The Bills would get their hometown attraction and add another important piece.
