Another season of the NFL has ended. With just a couple months until the official off season begins, it is time to look into business decisions.
The Denver Broncos have some interesting questions going into the free agency period in March. Two of their weapons in the offense are set to hit the market, Knowshon Moreno and Eric Decker. As I have stated in a previous article, they should do whatever it takes to make sure Decker stays with the club in 2014. However, Decker is asking for a big contract and with the contract year of Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas coming up after the 2014 season, the Broncos could decide to save up money now and let Decker test the market.
If they do not end up franchise tagging Decker and he ends up signing with another team, a free agent wide out that the Broncos should spark some interest is the second wide out for the New York Giants. Hakeem Nicks would be an interesting play for the Broncos because of his abilities he provided for the Giants as Victor Cruz‘s Robin. While his production during the contract year was disappointing, Nicks has a huge upside and is still somewhat fresh. At only 26 years old, it would only be a matter of time until he really hit his prime.
He was a huge player for the Giants during their Super Bowl run in 2011, especially during the postseason. He also has won a Super Bowl with the team, so it would make sense to bring in a wide out who has experience in the big game and perhaps is ready for one more ring in the early stages of his career.
Now the only question to be for Nicks if he signs with the Broncos, what number should he wear? No. 88 is already taken by Thomas. No matter his number, I can see Nicks being a solid receiver for the Broncos as they try to make a repeat trip to the big game.
