5 NFL Draft Prospects Who Could Be Instant Starters For San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the best teams in the NFL. They’ve made the league’s final four the last three years but have yet to get over the hump and win the title. They don’t have too many holes to fill in the draft this spring, but with a few new starters they could find themselves hoisting the Lombardi Trophy next season.

The two positions of need most glaring on the 49ers are wide receiver and cornerback. The wide receiver group in the Bay Area needs work, both on the inside and the outside. The offensive line, especially up the middle, is also a place where a rookie could make his presence felt.

On the defensive side, the corners could use an upgrade or two. Solid all around, the 49ers do have a few spots where they need to get better on defense, especially if they end up letting safety Donte Whitner go because his cap number is so high.

Mostly, San Francisco just needs to fill in some gaps with depth along their roster. They wouldn’t have been able to win so many games the last few years if they had room for too many new starters. But for a few talented rookies in this draft class, the chance to start right away for them would be there.

The San Francisco 49ers lineup will be one of the hardest in the league to crack, but these are five guys who could be instant starters for them next year.

Deone Bucannon is a name that is being thrown around the 49ers a lot lately. A physically imposing safety who could be available in the second, or even third, round, he's a guy who could step in and start right away if Whitner is let go.

4. Odell Beckham Jr., Wide Receiver, LSU

The 49ers need playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and they also need playmakers on special teams. The speedy Odell Beckham, Jr. from LSU could make an immediate impact in both areas.

3. Bryan Stork, Center, Florida State

Jonathan Goodwin has started every game for the 49ers at center for the last three years. But he's getting older, and there might be a chance for a good young lineman to take his spot. Bryant Stork, fresh off a national championship at Florida State, could be that guy.

2. Justin Gilbert, Cornerback, Oklahoma State

Justin Gilbert is about as NFL-ready as a corner could be. Big, strong and able to battle at the point of attack for the ball, he'll start right away for whoever takes him. The 49ers will have to trade up if they want to get him, but he would pay dividends right away.

Kelvin Benjamin has seen his draft stock skyrocket after being the best weapon on the Florida State team that won the national title this year. He would instantly be the most talented receiver on the 49ers, too.
