Looks like John Elway will be staying a little bit longer in the Denver Broncos organization.

The Vice President of Football Operations was awarded with a three-year extension through the 2017 season. If that was not good enough, Elway was also awarded the position of GM of the Broncos organization. This is a great move by the Broncos. The team was dwelling in the cellar before Elway took over, finishing a dismissal 4-12 in 2010, which marked the worst season in franchise history. Elway took over and began making some moves that have helped the franchise.

His first move was to hire a head coach that could benefit the team. John Fox has more than done that as the team has won three straight AFC West Division titles. Then it came time to bring in some free agent talent that could bring the team to the next level. Signing players like Peyton Manning and Wes Welker, to name a couple of players, helped out the team. The moves that Elway has made in his three years as the VP of Football Operations have brought the team back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 15 years.

Elway has more than earned both the extension and promotion for all the hard work he has done for the Broncos. He brought them from a team that was decent at best to an elite group that they are now known as. He has shown that with a little hard work, the team can become dominate once again. His leadership has also kept some of the players around. Playing for a boss who is also a Hall-of-Fame quarterback is probably an rewarding experience for the players.

With Elway playing a huge part for the Broncos once again like he did during his playing career with the team, he has started a new chapter in Broncos history. Look for the team to be a force for years to come.
