After re-signing both Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper earlier this week, the Philadelphia Eagles‘ wide receiver room is getting rather crowded. Naturally, NFL pundits across the globe are starting to wonder just how deep the Eagles are willing to go at wideout — especially since Philadelphia’s defense could use a makeover to say the least.
With all of that being said, DeSean Jackson‘s loudmouth attitude is reportedly growing thin with Eagles brass. Of course, these rumors aren’t that shocking considering Jackson was seen screaming at his teammates in 2013 on multiple occasions. What is comes down to is this: Does Eagles general manager Howie Roseman see the talented wide receiver as a distraction or as a key cog to the team’s success?
Moving on, speedsters like Jackson really don’t have a lengthy shelf life at the NFL level. Heck, Percy Harvin made the Seattle Seahawks look rather foolish this past season. Despite being the Seahawks’ highest paid player, Harvin finished the regular season with just one catch for 17 yards.
Now, trades in the NFL are very hard to execute and especially with an expensive player like Jackson. However, Philadelphia would be foolish to turn place No. 10 on it’s “untouchable” list this offseason. If another team makes a generous offer for Jackson then Roseman shouldn’t hesitate at shipping the bigmouth wideout elsewhere.
