Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fail With New Uniforms
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveiled a new helmet look a couple weeks back. There weren’t many changes to the helmets besides a larger flag logo and a chrome facemask. For the most part, people were impartial to the changes. Some like the new helmets, others don’t. But no one was really bashing the Bucs for their new look.
Well, that just changed.
Enter the Bucs’ new uniforms for 2014:
The number design is, uh, unique?
It took me a second to process that these were indeed Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniforms. Once you look at the helmets you can put two-and-two together, but otherwise, there’s not much that screams Bucs.
The home jerseys aren’t bad. At least with those we can see the familiar Tampa red. But the away jerseys just look flat out weird. I like that they tried to incorporate the old creamsicle color, but it just doesn’t work. Maybe these unis will look different on real people, but I doubt it.
At this rate, the Bucs would have been better off just going back to the creamsicles. I would have rather seen them update the old school unis and make them more modern and HD friendly. These new unis are just a train wreck of colors.
My first thought was that these were the 2015 Pro Bowl uniforms. That’s how weird they look to me. I guess I’ll wait to make a full judgement until I see them on Sunday, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
It’s time to bring back Bucco Bruce.
