2014 NFL Free Agency: 5 Teams That Should Sign Devin Hester
5 Teams That Must Sign Devin Hester in Free Agency
The Chicago Bears have elected to go in a new direction in the return game, which means eight-year veteran Devin Hester will become an unrestricted free agent. The most electrifying player for the Bears for nearly a decade will hit the open market to sign with the highest bidder. And if you think for one second that there won’t be interest in the playmaker then you better guess again.
Hester posted a career-high 1,442 kick return yards and 256 punt return yards in 16 games last season. His 27.6 return yards per attempt ranked sixth among players who had at least 20 returns. Meanwhile, his 14.2 yards per punt return ranked first in the league among players with at least 20 returns.
The fact that he attempted 52 kick returns, which was nine more than the second closest person, proves that he wanted to make a difference every time he lined up. That’s just who Hester is and always will be. He’s someone who will give a team an edge that no other team can compete with on the same level. For that reason, I fully expect an intense bidding war for his services.
I seriously doubt it will be about the money for Hester as he’s more focused on winning a Super Bowl. That’s why only teams that believe they can contend in 2014 will have a chance at signing him. Check out five teams that must sign Hester immediately in free agency. Don’t forget to comment below on what you think about the Bears releasing him.
