Although it is one of the oldest franchises in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals have never done much as far as free agency is concerned. There are a few exceptions, but the fact is the Cardinals have largely been mediocre in free agency signings. With that said, even the Cardinals have had signings that turned out well for the team. Here are the five biggest free agent signings in Cardinals history.
That's right, even a kicker made the list. Although Jay Feely has never been spectacular, he provided a consistent presence for the team over his time in the desert, and that's more than a lot of people can say.
Literally one of the biggest free agency signings in Arizona history, Alan Faneca was extremely important to the Cardinals' success. Providing solid protection on an otherwise mediocre offensive line, Faneca is easily one of the bigger signings in Cardinals history.
Although he was signed just before last season as a free agent, Karlos Dansby has done so much more for the Cardinals during his career than just what he accomplished last season. Overall, Dansby is one of the bigger signings in Cardinals history because of what he means to the entire team.
Ever since Ederrin James retired, the Cardinals' backfield has rotated between ineffective, injury-prone running backs. He wasn't supremely talented, but James provided the Cardinals with a reliable, consistent presence while with the franchise.
This is an easy one. Not only is Kurt Warner the biggest free agent signing in Cardinals history, but he is arguably the most important player to ever wear an Arizona jersey.
