With the could-be scenario of a departure by Aqib Talib in free agency, the New England Patriots need to have backup plans in mind. Hopefully he stays, but if he goes, here are five guys who can come right in and fill the void.

Last season, Dimitri Patterson only played six games. The more eye-popping number here is that he had four interceptions. He is 30 years old, but imagine what he can do with a full healthy season.

It seems as though his time with the Denver Broncos was limited. He only spent one year with the team and is now headed to free agency. In six years he has only missed four games and has 19 interceptions. Giving him a look would help the Patriots defense tremendously.

3. Darrelle Revis

Patriots fans remember him best for wreaking havoc all over the field for the New York Jets. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren't completely sold on his free agency, publicly saying they won't cut him until Wednesday if a trade doesn't happen by then. With less than 24 hours left to make a deal, I'm willing to bet he becomes a free agent.

2. Brandon Browner

I know most people have a red-flag associated with Brandon Browner. He is suspended for the first four games of the 2014 season after being reinstated from suspension. But he was one of the enforcers on the best defense in the NFL before he was suspended last year. The Patriots haven't had an enforcer since Rodney Harrison, and I miss that excitement.

1. Carlos Rogers

One of the hardest hitting players in the secondary positions in all of football is Carlos Rogers. He was overshadowed with the San Francisco 49ers by Donte "Hitner" Whitner. But the 32-year-old, nine-year veteran hasn't missed a game since 2010 and is holding up and playing very well in his later years. Taking him for production and guidance would be a huge help for the Patriots secondary.

Rob Gronkowski Grinds On Fox Sports 1 Reporter

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was a guest Fox Sports 1's 'Whitlock's House Party by the Bay' on Thursday afternoon, and the show naturally turned into a party considering the guest. Gronkowski recently revealed that he had once stripped at a bachelorette party in college, so when he was challenged to do so by the crew, he proceeded to get his moves on, and it was nothing short of glorious.

Gronkowski's Miraculous TD Brings Pats Within Two

After making an absolutely amazing catch in double coverage on 4th-and-10 to keep New England's drive alive, Rob Gronkowski once again came through in the clutch despite having two defenders on him. Tom Brady was under tremendous pressure, and essentially just chucked it up for grabs in Gronkowski's direction. Gronkowski split the two defenders from behind and emerged for the miraculous touchdown reception.
