Wide receiver Terance Mathis signed with the Falcons in 1994, a year in which he posted career numbers. Atlanta knew they had something special in Mathis right out of the gate. It’s a good thing that they did take a chance on him in free agency considering he had arguably the best season of his career in ’98. He averaged 17.8 yards per catch and hauled in 11 touchdowns in a year the Falcons nearly went the distance.

He posted 60 total tackles, one forced fumble and a whopping seven interceptions that season. While with Atlanta for seven years, Buchanan posted 30 interceptions and 397 total tackles, both of which rank among the best in franchise history.
