We’re just into day two of NFL free agency and the Denver Broncos are continuing to dominate. After stealing the show on day one with the signings of T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib, news has come out of the Mile High City that DeMarcus Ware will be joining the Broncos as well.
Adam Schefter is reporting that the deal is worth $30 million over three years, with $20 million guaranteed. As per usual, the deal is pending a physical.
On the surface it looks like Ware took a pay cut by signing with Broncos. However, it’s being reported that he’ll make $13 million in 2014, a slight increase from the $12.75 he would have made in Dallas. So over the long haul, he won’t make as much money in Denver, but in the short-term, he’s getting a raise and a much better chance to win a Super Bowl.
I guess you could say, the DE is getting the best of both worlds right now. He’s still making tons of money, on a much better team.
Many are going to boldly state right now that Denver is the favorite to once again win the AFC in 2014, and I wholeheartedly agree. Who’s going to be able to hang with the Broncos? They were already elite on the offensive side of the ball, and now they’ve gone out and signed three top-tier players to bolster their defense.
Are the Broncos done in free agency? It seems unlikely. Stay tuned.
