The New England Patriots just saw the Denver Broncos’ huge six-year deal for Aqib Talib and are apparently prepared to raise them an island. The latest NFL free agency rumors suggest the Patriots are pushing to trade for Darrelle Revis, who used to torment them when he was a member of the New York Jets. Now it’s looking like he’ll be Bill Belichick’s newest weapon in an attempt to take down the Broncos and reclaim the AFC.
Patriots in a strong position to land Revis now, especially after Talib’s deal. Revis wants to be there. Will only take a 5th round pick

Talib was expected to re-sign with the Patriots, but the Broncos swooped in while John Elway tossed money in the air like Pacman Jones at a strip club. Heck, the latest rumors even suggest the Broncos will add DeMarcus Ware to their already solid defensive free agent signings of Talib and safety T.J. Ward. However, the addition of Revis would put the Patriots right back on the radar of elite AFC teams.
Revis hasn’t really been himself since tearing his ACL and then a bizarre season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it’s certain he will be moved, if not released. It’s no secret that he really wants to play in New England and he would be a perfect fit if the Patriots pull the trigger. It probably wouldn’t take a high draft pick, so if Belichick is willing to part with a fifth-round pick or so, Revis could be in a Patriots uniform by the end of the week.
