Top 5 Teams For Free Agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick

In somewhat surprising news from the NFL, Ryan Fitzpatrick has been cut by the Tennessee Titans. It's now clear that Tennessee is all in on Jake Locker in 2014, and as a result, Fitzpatrick became a casualty. However, it's safe to assume the veteran QB will have no problem finding a new home. Here are his top five landing spots:

The Jets are clearly in the market for a proven veteran QB to backup Geno Smith. Fitzpatrick makes more sense than Michael Vick, mainly because he would invite less controversy, while still being a solid No. 2.

Cleveland Browns

After parting ways with Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell, the Browns will likely add another veteran QB to their roster. Fitzpatrick makes sense on multiple levels. If push came to shove, he could start. If nothing else, he'd be a good guy to have behind Brian Hoyer.

The Raiders always need QBs. As it sits now, Fitzpatrick could walk in the door as the backup and eventually work his way up to starter. With no clear-cut signal-caller in place, Oakland would arguably give Fitzpatrick the best chance to start.

The Packers were scrambling for QBs in 2013. After several weeks of subpar backup QB play last season, Matt Flynn finally steadied the ship. But there are no guarantees he'll be back in 2014. Fitzpatrick would be a much more reliable option at No. 2 behind Aaron Rodgers.

Josh McCown has taken his talents to Tampa, so the Bears are currently looking for a QB to take his spot behind Jay Cutler. Chicago could be thinking about drafting a QB late this year, but if not, Fitzpatrick would make for a very solid signing and insurance policy.
