The Chicago Bears have brought in some defensive help so far this offseason, though there are still plenty of areas that the team needs help with.

James Ihedigbo is a safety and a proven winner. Ihedigbo was the starting safety on the Baltimore Ravens' 2012 Super Bowl team and has great size. He is excellent in run support.

Released by the New York Jets on Friday, Mark Sanchez is now a veteran in the NFL and would benefit greatly from playing for Marc Trestman. If the Bears can convince Sanchez to sign up as a backup, he would be a great fit behind Jay Cutler.

Dimitri Patterson is a cornerback who was limited last season with a hamstring injury and still produced four interceptions. With Charles Tillman only signed for one more year and the pending departure of Zachary Bowman, another cornerback would be a great pickup.

At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Alex Carrington is imposing along the defensive line. With only one interior lineman signed for longer than this season and coming off of a season decimated by injuries at the position, it would be wise to bring in as much help as possible along the defensive line. Carrington is coming off of a quad injury from last season, which could help the Bears bring him in for a lower price.

If the rumors of Jared Allen mulling a deal with the Seattle Seahawks are false, then the Bears need to make a strong push for him. The team has already brought in Lamarr Houston and Willie Young at the defensive end position, but Young is still a bit unproven and Allen could do very well playing opposite Houston with Young serving as a rotation guy.
