2014 NFL Draft: 5 Players Cleveland Browns Should Target with 4th Pick

The Cleveland Browns have used free agency to drastically upgrade their team. They signed two good defensive players in Karlos Dansby and Donte Whitner, as well as two offensive upgrades in RB Ben Tate and WR Andrew Hawkins. The Browns will now look to continue their improvement in the NFL Draft. They should be able to add another impact player with the 4th overall pick. Here are five players that the Browns should target with their first pick.

5. Jadeveon Clowney

Most people expect Cleveland to go offense in the first round and they likely will. The one player capable of swaying Cleveland’s strategy would be Jadeveon Clowney. If he slips to No. 4, Cleveland would have to consider taking him because no matter how strong your defense is, Clowney makes it stronger.

4. Jake Matthews

Cleveland could look to upgrade their offensive line and a perfect candidate would be Jake Matthews. Matthews would help protect whoever the starting QB is and open holes for new RB Ben Tate.

3. Sammy Watkins

The Browns added one WR in free agency, but they could still use another one to go with superstar Josh Gordon. The perfect guy, in my opinion, is Sammy Watkins. Watkins, Hawkins and Gordon would be a scary trio for opposing defenses.

2. Teddy Bridgewater

The Browns released two QBs in Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden. That leaves Brian Hoyer, and he is coming off an ACL tear. Whether the Browns want to start Hoyer or not, they still need another QB, and Bridgewater is one of the top QBs in the draft.

1. Johnny Manziel

I believe Johnny Manziel should be Cleveland’s pick if he is available. He is a special player who will be a star in the NFL. I believe Manziel would lead the Browns to a place they have not been in a while—the playoffs.

Crazy, just crazy. Clowney would be a bit player as he is too light to hold the edge in a 3/4 base defense and has no experience as a OLB. Bridgewater and Johnny Football at #4 or even #26 makes me sick. Watkins at #4 if available and the best CB with size and speed at #26. OL at #35. Then QB and depth.
