Now that free agency’s peak has come and gone, it is time to prepare for the 2014 NFL Draft. The Dolphins hold the 19th pick in this draft and will have a plethora of top-10 talent available when they pick as this is a very talented draft class. The Dolphins enter the draft with their most pressing needs at RT, RB, OG, ILB and TE.

Eric Ebron would provide the Dolphins with a lethal set of tight ends. Ebron, matched up with Charles Clay, would give the Dolphins the advantage in the middle of the field in most any stadium. Ebron has been compared to Vernon Davis, and rightly so. Some say Ebron, a record-setting TE at North Carolina, is the best TE prospect since Davis.

Zack Martin has been handed to the Dolphins in nearly every “expert’s” mock draft. Martin would provide the Dolphins with a day-one starter at RT or guard, depending on where the Dolphins decide to play him. But, a first-round RT is a bit illogical considering a quality starter can be nabbed in the second or third round.

I’ll admit, I put this one in specifically to get you excited. I only expect the Dolphins to take a WR in the early rounds if the rumored Mike Wallace trade does happen (which isn’t likely in my eyes). Beckham provides excellent run-after-catch, something that the Dolphins need more of from their group of receivers, and has soft hands. Beckham is a big play waiting to happen and also brings special teams value as a returner.

Lewan may slip due to concerns about his character after a recent arrest. Lewan is another day-one RT who has the potential to eventually replace Branden Albert as the Dolphins LT. Lewan is considered a top three LT in this draft and would be a steal at 19. But his character questions are something that Joe Philbin wouldn't be attracted to. Not to mention, RTs aren't great value in the first round.

Mosley is the player I prefer the Dolphins to draft with the 19th pick. Mosley’s ability to cover sideline to sideline and stop the run is something the Dolphins desperately need in their linebacking corps. Mosley is a winner, a leader and one of the top defensive athletes in the draft, but he comes with a fair share of concerns as he has a history of injuries and needs to put on bulk to withstand the wear-and-tear of the NFL.
