The NFL fan experience is getting better by the day. With technology and new stadium capabilities, it’s already at a place where some never envisioned it would be. But now it appears that some teams are ready to take the fan experience to yet another new level with premium packages.
While the term ‘premium package’ is somewhat vague, we all know it means that you’ll get a little more by paying a little more. Football personality Darren Rovell is reporting that some teams are partnering with app developer Experience to create a way for fans to upgrade their gameday experience in 2014. Items available for purchase could include: special access to enter stadiums without a wait, merchandise and meeting cheerleaders.
In fact, fans will even be able to arrange for cheerleaders to come up to their seats for a meet and greet.
The Atlanta Falcons are out in front of this enhanced fan experience, as they started to offer some of these products/services last season.
“Anything from pregame on-field, to a birthday message, to cheerleader visits, to mascot visits, to the fly-by pass, which is a dedicated lane where you don’t wait to get into the stadium. All the experiential things sold out within the first four hours they were made available,” said Falcons CEO Jim Smith.
Honestly, I can’t believe something like this hasn’t taken off already. I guess we’re still just a few years into the smart phone era, but it’s surprising that the Falcons are the only team currently doing this sort of thing.
That will change quickly next season. Fans love feeling special and like they’re VIP. Plus, what scumbag male fan with a little extra cash in his pocket wouldn’t love to pay for a few awkward minutes of conversation with a pretty cheerleader?
