It takes a total team effort to be successful in the NFL. A team certainly has to have talent to go along with that, but on any given Sunday, any team can legitimately beat any other team. Teams expect certain players to go out and do what they are paid to do, but there are unheralded players who also play a huge role in a team's success. Here are five such Buffalo Bills players who must step up in 2014.

Even with the signing of free agent Brandon Spikes, the Buffalo Bills are going to look towards Manny Lawson to play a huge role for their defense. Lawson started in 15 games last season and recorded 73 tackles. Paired with Spikes and Kiko Alonso, the Bills could be a force on the defensive side of the ball.

Speedy receiver Marquise Goodwin will have to remain healthy in order for him to make a serious impact. Goodwin, alongside T.J. Graham, Robert Woods and Stevie Johnson will give second-year QB E.J. Manuel plenty of options to throw to.

3. Nigel Bradham, LB

Nigel Bradham started 12 games for the Bills back in 2012. Starting only twice last season, Bradham had a slight drop-off in production on defense. He is going to have to prove to Buffalo's new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz that he belongs on the field, and doing so improves this defense even more.

One of the two Williams' on the list, Duke Williams played in all 16 games last season that went unnoticed by many. With a rather young secondary, Duke will have to improve upon his performance to earn more snaps in the upcoming season.

With the departure of Jairus Byrd and the signing of a relatively large contract, Aaron Williams is facing the toughest challenge in his fourth season with the Buffalo Bills. He will need to continue to improve if he is going to be the guy this coming season. With 82 tackles a year ago, Williams is showing that he is ready to take over that role.
