5 Unheralded Denver Broncos Who Need To Step Up In 2014

The Denver Broncos are a season removed from their seventh Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. As the team gets closer to the draft, they are hoping that the moves they have made now can help them hoist the trophy at the end of the year. Here are the five lesser known players I believe need to step up for the Broncos in 2014.

With the defense getting a much-needed upgrade with the free agent acquisitions, this might be a wake-up call for some players. Malik Jackson will need to perform at a higher level if he wants to become part of a defense that could become a force in 2014.

4. Virgil Green, TE

Backing up one of the emerging stars of the Broncos offense, Virgil Green has to step up in case Julius Thomas ends up injured and is unable to play. Green appears to be the next tight end on the depth chart, so his performance will be key during the season.

3. Kayvon Webster, CB

With the key veterans in Champ Bailey and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie leaving the Broncos, new free agent pickup Aqib Talib is going to need some help. Unless the Broncos plan on using one of their seven draft picks on a cornerback, Webster is going to have to step into a larger role in the new remodeled defense if he wants to be wearing blue and orange in his future.

2. Chris Clark, OT

When Ryan Clady went down with a foot injury last season, Clark took most of the load on the left side protecting Manning. This season he is going to have to prove that he can do a better job at keeping Manning on his feet or he will be looking for another job.

1. C.J. Anderson, RB

With Knowshon Moreno playing for the Miami Dolphins now, Montee Ball will be getting the bulk of the carries. Anderson will most likely become his backup unless the team signs a free agent veteran. This is his chance to prove to the organization that he can play a big role as the backup.
