The Green Bay Packers need to make a ton of upgrades on defense in this year's draft, and that is no secret. Green Bay also needs to get protection for Aaron Rodgers, and they should add a tight end in this year's draft too. Here are five players who the Packers must avoid in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Packers could use a tight end since Jermichael Finley will most likely leave in free agency. As of now, Green Bay's starting tight end is Andrew Quarless. While Quarless isn't a bad player, many don't see him as the long-term option to be the safety blanket for Aaron Rodgers. Colt Lyerla is a productive player, but his head is never on straight. Lyerla is basically an accident waiting to happen, and Green Bay should avoid this troublemaker.

Although the Packers signed Julius Peppers in free agency, the Packers may look towards the draft to add another impact defensive linemen. Ra'Shede Hageman is a guy who could fall out of the top 10 and right into Green Bay's lap. If that happens, Green Bay should ignore Hageman and draft other instant-impact players on defense.

3. Stephon Tuitt

Stephon Tuitt is an interesting player because he could go anywhere from the first to third round. Many NFL teams like Tuitt because he has the ability to play defensive end or defensive tackle, but that could be a big problem at the next level. With his size, Tuitt is a tweener. He may end up being available in the second round, but the Packers can't afford to take the chance on this prospect.

2. Trent Murphy

Although it is intriguing that Trent Murphy played for one of the best defensive lines in college football, there are a ton of questions about what position he will play in the NFL. He isn't strong enough to play defensive end, and he isn't fast enough to play outside linebacker. Murphy's draft stock has gone down, and it's looking like he may only be able to play in the 4-3 defensive scheme.

B.J. Raji is coming back for the 2014 NFL season, but that doesn't mean the Packers are sold on Raji for the future. Louis Nix III is a terrific player, but a freak knee injury hurt his draft stock. Nix III decided to return for the 2013 college football season, and that is keeping him from being a top-10 pick in this year's draft. The Packers should stay away from Nix III because he had a career-threatening injury this past season.
