Instead of hearing about what DeSean Jackson thought through Twitter or insider sources, the NFL fans were finally able to hear directly from the star wide receiver. Jackson expanded on some topics surrounding his release, and he also talked about his emotional state when he was let go. There is still much more to the story surrounding Jackson's firing, but this interview helped add some new pieces to the puzzle.
Jackson seems like a confident individual, but just like any of us would be, he said that he was hurt by his release. After spending six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jackson reflected on what an amazing opportunity it was and the incredible caliber of players that he called his teammates throughout the years.
This may have been a shot at Chip Kelly, but Jackson said that he had respect for Jay Gruden and the type of offense that he runs.
While Jackson said he had a hard time getting a direct reason for why he wasn't gone to play for the Eagles, he did state that Chip Kelly wanted the team and Jackson to move forward and look for new opportunities.
Jackson said that he felt the article about his potential gang involvement was disrespectful, and some of the items mentioned were currently non-issues. He said the Eagles knew of some of the affiliations and speculation that were mentioned in the article early on in his career, and he didn't understand why it would be an issue today.
During the interview, Stephen A. Smith brought up the fact that Theron Shakir, who was accused of murder, has recorded music under Jackson's record label. While Jackson has apparently known Shakir since he was young, this affiliation was a cause of concern for every team looking to sign the former Eagle.
