The 2014 NFL Draft continues to draw closer and closer with each passing week. Take a look at the latest rumors facing the New York Jets as they plan to execute a strategy to has a solid plan in place to improve their team with the best talent available. With their 12 draft picks, the Jets have been rumored to go after the following five players.
TE Eric Ebron would be the missing piece to complement the Jets' offensive attack. Ebron is a natural-born playmaker, and if the Jets get lucky to have him still be available when it's their turn to pick, expect the Jets to grab him immediately. It's rumored the Jets want to add another opposite tight end to use in dual tight end formations alongside Jeff Cumberland.
The Jets need to add another linebacker for depth purposes and to eventually take over once a starting spot becomes available in a few years. Linebacker Anthony Barr fits the mold the Jets love to have at the position since he's a natural speed rusher and is extremely aggressive in creating turnovers. It's rumored since the Jets re-signed Calvin Pace for the next two years, they want to draft his future replacement.
It's no secret the Jets need at least one or two more solid wide receivers for the team. The speed that Odell Beckham Jr. would bring to the Jets would be incredible in addition to his ability to make big plays down the field. It's rumored since the Jets made it a top priority to bring in Eric Decker, they want to draft the best receiver available to complement him in the slot position.
One big possible rumor is the fact that since the Jets absolutely want to bring in the best receiver available, they might trade up to secure none other than Marqise Lee. Considered one of the top three receivers in the entire draft, Lee would be a tremendous talent to have in a Jets uniform.
Considered to be a true shut-down cornerback, Justin Gilbert has been on the Jets' radar for months now. He's exactly the kind of player head coach Rex Ryan would love to have to be a true defensive anchor in the Jets' secondary. It's rumored the Jets want him since he also has exceptional kickoff and punt return abilities.
