While the 2013 season didn’t quite go as planned for the Green Bay Packers, it certainly offered some promise moving forward. With a full offseason to recover and get healthy, the team now turns its attention to reloading the roster for another run at the playoffs. That’s where the 2014 NFL Draft comes in.

With that in mind, here’s a look at five rumors we’re hearing about the Packers’ plan of attack on draft day.

According to numerous reports, the Packers have shown significant interest in North Dakota State quarterback Brock Jensen. The small-school product is a raw project with athleticism and an average arm, but has earned some late-round grades. Considering he’s a big Packers fan and an intriguing talent with some upside, Green Bay might just take a flier on Jensen.

According to ESPN, the Packers are looking for a new inside linebacker considering that neither A.J. Hawk nor Brad Jones is more than an average starter. While they’re both serviceable at this time, upgrading the position should be a priority. If that’s the case, targeting a top talent like C.J. Mosley could be an option. He’ll likely be gone by the time the Packers pick at No. 21, but could potentially slide.

The Packers recently hosted Tennessee-Martin receiver Jeremy Butler for a workout. While the small-school prospect hasn’t garnered a significant amount of interest this season, he bolsters the size and strength to help replace James Jones in the Green Bay offense. He won’t be worth more than a seventh-round flier, but could be an option late for the Packers.

According to numerous reports, the Packers have shown significant interest in Murphy since the draft season got under way. While they did add Julius Peppers to help bolster the pass rush, they still need an outside linebacker capable of taking some of the pressure off of an oft-injured Clay Matthews. Murphy isn’t a supreme athlete, but makes plays with instincts and intelligence, and could be available for Green Bay in the first or second round.

Calvin Pryor another first-round option for Green Bay?

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Green Bay will be looking to add a starting-caliber safety during the 2014 NFL Draft. Seeing as Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will likely be off the board by the time the Packers are on the clock, the next best option is Pryor. The hard-hitting, aggressive safety out of Louisville is definitely an intriguing talent, but still needs some considerable work in coverage. Will the Packers gamble and grab him early?
