2014 NFL Draft: Updating the Kansas City Chiefs’ 5 Biggest Needs
2014 NFL Draft: Updating the Top 5 Needs for the Kansas City Chiefs
The NFL Draft is one month away and every team is busy finalizing their draft boards. One of the main things teams must do is identify their biggest needs. For the Kansas City Chiefs it is imperative that they address their needs due to what they lost in free agency. Here are the top five needs that Kansas City has heading into the NFL Draft.
Kansas City has a good group of linebackers, but they may not be able to afford to keep them all over the next couple of seasons. Now is the time for Kansas City to start preparing for the future.
Kansas City lost one of their key defensive linemen when Tyson Jackson left via free agency. This is a deep draft for defensive linemen, and Kansas City should look for one to replace Jackson.
Kansas City’s secondary was a huge problem in the second half of last season, and they were the biggest reason for their playoff loss. Kansas City should look to address the secondary in the draft, and I believe safety is the position they should target.
The biggest hit Kansas City received in free agency was along their offensive line. They lost three offensive linemen and will now look to replace at least one or two of them in the draft.
I still believe wide receiver is the biggest position of need for Kansas City. Their offense lacked explosiveness, and given Dwayne Bowe’s off-field issues, it would be smart for Kansas City to look for a new No. 1 WR.
