The Kansas City Chiefs may still be nursing their wounds from a depression-inducing Wild Card playoff defeat, but the team and fanbase alike continue to move forward. The rumor mill never stops churning, not even through the end of March Madness and the beginning of the baseball season, so here are the five current rumors you need to know.

Eric Fisher struggled to find his stride in his rookie year, but most still have hope in the young tackle. Still, the Chiefs can expect to lose several starters and potential future starters this offseason, so the few additions already made won't be enough to cut it. Most regard newcomer Jeff Linkenbach as a solid backup, so that means KC needs to find another starting lineman through either the draft or free agency.

In losing Kendrick Lewis to free agency, the Chiefs will likely wind up being better off. Most fans and analysts agree that Lewis struggled as of late, and with the team already close to max payroll, the best candidate to fill the void may come from within. Some sources are currently implying that the young and mostly unknown Commings will get every chance to prove himself worthy of the job, while others say KC will draft their new safety.

Alex Smith provided smart, skilled play that KC fans haven't seen at his position in decades. Fans in KC now respect Smith's game, or at least they should, but they don't want him to become the next Joe Flacco when it comes to contracts. The Chiefs would be wise to work out an extension before Alex takes advantages of an insane market for quarterbacks. This means they've got their eyes on drafting a later-round QB for Andy Reid to develop.

Rumors are swirling regarding the loss of one of KC's most beloved defensive players. Derrick Johnson and others come up in the rumor mill, but not as often as the idea of cutting highly-paid pass rusher Tamba Hali. While this would bum out many Chiefs fans, KC's remaining cap space of roughly .5 million makes the rumors frighteningly believable. This makes any talented pass rusher in the draft enticing.

This draft is apparently chock full of talented receivers, and the Chiefs absolutely need to upgrade at this position. A No. 2 wideout to compliment Dwayne Bowe is the biggest positive change this team can undergo with one realistic move, so following this rumor to its end should be a nail-biter, for better or worse.
