2014 NFL Draft: QB A.J. McCarron Now Has More Off-Field Issues Than Johnny Manziel
Even though the character of Johnny Manziel seems to always be in question and NFL organizations are worried about how he behaves off of the field, quarterback A.J. McCarron has just created more cause for concern than Johnny Football. It appears that McCarron and his soon to be wife Katherine Webb, are considering staring in a reality show about their upcoming wedding.
Dee Dee McCarron, the mother of the NFL prospect, told USA Today Sports that the show was a “possibility”. The fact that the actual proposal was filmed would lead most people to believe that the show is more than a possibility, and this show would allow the Alabama sweethearts to test the waters of their future celebrity status.
Ever since Brent Musburger commented on the looks of Webb, her celebrity status has shot through the roof. The pageant winner went from 2,000 Twitter followers to 175,000 in just one night, appeared in the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and was a contestant on the show Splash.
It is hard to deny that a potential reality show wouldn’t be successful for McCarron and Webb. With over 14,000 favorites on her wedding engagement picture alone, everyone will want to see more into the lives of this potential power couple. Why this is an issue, however, is that McCarron is fighting to find a team to start for.
With names like Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr and Blake Bortles projected to be selected way before McCarron, a reality show only serves as a distraction at this point in the young quarterback’s career. Manziel may be questioned on his partying in college, but how is McCarron going to be able to handle the pressure of a wedding, cameras following him around everywhere and learning a new offense?
At this point, I would be much more worried about McCarron staring in a Kardashian-type show than Johnny Football drinking a few beers.
