The Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking to get back to the playoffs in 2014, and having a good draft next month can help them with that cause. There are many different directions the Steelers can go in the upcoming draft, but here are what I believe to be the top five needs that the Steelers should try to address.
Pittsburgh could look to upgrade or add depth along the offensive line. You can never have too many linemen. Whether they want to throw the ball with big Ben or run the ball with Le’veon Bell, they need a good offensive line.
Pittsburgh has been built on defense for years, but last season, the defense was the weakest part of the team. I expect the Steelers to address many defensive positions, and every good defense starts with a good defensive line.
Safety Ryan Clark signed with the Redskins, leaving a huge void in the Pittsburgh secondary. It will be imperative that the Steelers find a safety in the draft.
Pittsburgh also lost WR Emmanuel Sanders in free agency. Pittsburgh has No. 1 receiver Antonio Brown, but not much depth behind him. This is a deep draft for WRs, and Pittsburgh should be able to get one.
Pittsburgh’s biggest need, in my opinion, is cornerback. They have Ike Taylor and William Gay, but I believe they could upgrade one of those by selecting a CB in the first round of the draft.
