Final Straw For San Francisco 49ers’ Aldon Smith After Being Detained For Bomb Scare
In some of the most shocking sporting news you will hear, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was detained at LAX after he announced that he had a bomb.
This comes just a few days after 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was indicated to be a potential suspect in an investigation involving a woman and several other NFL players. The offseason can be one of the worst times for organizations as players seem to find themselves getting into trouble. Running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens has been the subject of fodder after he was videotaped dragging his unconscious fiancee through an elevator. Smith will now completely remove all the attention that has surrounded Rice.
While this incident is on a much bigger scale, this is not the first time Smith has been in legal trouble. In 2012, Smith was arrested for a DUI in Florida. In 2013, he once again was arrested for suspicion of DUI and possession of marijuana. Even though he entered rehab, Smith still appears to be dealing with issues that are going to impact his football career.
Smith was selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft and appeared to be a promising star. With 42 sacks in three seasons and 136 total tackles, San Francisco was obviously willing to work with Smith on his off the field issues. Now with a bomb scare, his future in the NFL is in absolute jeopardy.
As information unfolds, the NFL community will have a better picture of the full incident. Until then, however, the once promising career of this powerful linebacker seems like it will soon be over.
