When it comes to speedy linebackers, one thinks about dominating players who are able to make quick decisions as they make defensive stops. The New York Jets secured linebacker Calvin Pace for the next few years to keep his keen sense of defensive instincts on the team. However, what about the future? Pace signed a two-year deal with the Jets with the idea that his replacement will be arriving soon. With the 2014 NFL Draft almost upon the football world, the Jets need to add a young player to develop under Pace. One such player the Jets should look into selecting is linebacker Kyle Van Noy out of BYU.

Van Noy possesses many raw abilities that would translate very well into the NFL, especially on the Jets. While it wouldn’t make sense for the Jets to use their first-round pick on him, Van Noy could be available in the second round for the taking. He’s big, fast and capable of honing his defensive skills given the right mentor and development. A player like Pace could provide him invaluable advice and experience to have him be the next big superstar on defense.

Able to create plenty of pressure against opposing quarterbacks, Van Noy has a knack for hurrying and knockdowns. He’s a bit under the radar in the draft since he had a declining season last year, but the film shows he has plenty of potential to improve. Tackling is his forte, and he’s always been able to illustrate his intelligence on the football field. He has good instincts that have enabled him to either cause pass break-ups or even interceptions — both of which would be tremendously welcomed on any defense.

The Jets need to add a few more pieces to their defense, especially in their secondary. However, it wouldn’t hurt to draft Van Noy in the later rounds so they can rest easy that in a few years he’ll be ready to handle the spotlight. If drafted by the Jets, he should have a very bright future in New York.

Brandon Marshall Tells Rich Eisen He Hasn't Spoken To Jay Cutler

During a recent appearance on ' The Rich Eisen Show', former Chicago Bears and current New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall was asked about his relationship with his old quarterback, Jay Cutler. Marshall, who has zero chill, replied that he had not spoken to Cutler in "two years." Naturally, Eisen was shocked and mentioned that they were teammates just a season ago. Marshall essentially confirmed that they were not talking off the field during his last year in Chicago, but ultimately wished Cutler well.
