The popularity of the NFL is at an all-time high. The league is making more money than ever before. The NFL does not have many problems right now, but they do have one major problem that seems to be getting worse. The glaring problem is that the players can't stay out of trouble. The number of arrested players increases by the week. With that said, let’s take a look at the five teams that have the biggest issue taking control of their players.
The Indianapolis Colts have had 24 arrests since 2000 including three arrests last offseason. This offseason, the Colts’ owner was arrested for a DUI. If the owner cannot stay out of trouble, how can he expect his players to?
The Denver Broncos have had 36 players arrested since 2000 including some major ones in the last year. Von Miller was arrested twice last offseason and Julius Thomas was arrested once. The good news is Denver has not had an arrest this offseason, and they hope that can continue.
The San Francisco 49ers have had a string of off-the-field issues in the past two years. Three of their players have been arrested on DUI charges including LB Aldon Smith who was also arrested Sunday for claiming he had a bomb at LAX airport. Last week, Colin Kaepernick was named in a police investigation in Miami involving a woman in a Miami apartment. Chris Culliver was also arrested for a hit-and-run in February.
The Cincinnati Bengals have been better at controlling their players the past few seasons, but they still have 40 players arrested since 2000 which ranks the second-most in the NFL.
Minnesota has had four players arrested in the past six months, and unfortunately for them, that is nothing new. Minnesota leads the NFL in most players arrested since 2000 with an unbelievable 42 arrests.
