After starting the 2013 NFL season 0-8, the Jaguars would go 4-4 to end the season. It has been awhile since the Jaguars made the playoffs, but their "improve through the draft" philosophy has paid dividends. Jacksonville is a quarterback and a few skill players away from being a real good team. Here are five rumors you should know as the 2014 NFL Draft nears.

Connor Shaw has said that he has received most interest from the Jaguars and Seahawks. Shaw is one of the toughest draft prospects in recent memory. It seemed like he always played in college even if he was banged up. If the Jaguars wait until the later rounds to select a quarterback, Shaw would be a good option. He has a strong arm, and he has the "it" factor that NFL coaches love.

It could very well be a smoke screen, but there has been some chatter regarding the Jaguars liking Jake Matthews. The Texas A&M product is one of the most polished players in the class. The Jaguars drafted Luke Joeckel last year, but adding Matthews would make this offensive line younger and better.

According to Peter King, the Jaguars really like Jimmy Garoppolo. Although he is from a small school, Garoppolo has a ton of potential. He looks the part and has a rocket for an arm. He is a smart football player who can make all of the necessary throws.

2. Jadeveon Clowney is Impressive

Gus Bradley is a smart defensive coach, and I can't see him passing on one of the best defensive talents in a while. Clowney is an explosive player at 6-foot-6, 275 pounds. He possesses lightning speed and he can jump through the roof. Clowney could make an impact in Jacksonville's defense. With Bradley coaching him, Clowney could become the prolific pass rusher experts expect him to be.

Adam Schefter tweeted out that Manziel would most likely be selected from the third pick to the 13th pick. If the Jaguars want to make the "sexy" pick, drafting Johnny Manziel would be just that. Although many are pegging him as a bust, it should be noted that Manziel had one of the best two-season careers in the history of college football. Luke Joeckel would be Manziel's blind side tackle, just like he was at Texas A&M.
