The Buffalo Bills have had a rough offseason. From losing a star player to losing their legendary owner, things have been bleak for the Bills since the offseason began. With that in mind, here are the Buffalo Bills' five biggest offseason mistakes so far.

Although he wasn't the best player to leave the Buffalo Bills’ secondary this offseason, the loss of Jim Leonhard still is a painful one. Leonard doesn't put up mind-boggling stats, but he plays with a ton of heart and is a leader both on and off the field.

In free agency, the Bills attempted to fix their offensive line woes by signing career underachiever Chris Williams. Unfortunately, that move doesn't do much to shore up the line, and the Bills made a mistake by ignoring their line.

Yes, Kevin Kolb is one of the most injury-prone, ineffective players at his position. However, the Bills made a mistake by letting him go this offseason. With a quarterback group that include two second-year players in E.J. Manuel and Jeff Tuel, and Thad Lewis who has seen limited career action, it was tough to lose Kolb’s veteran presence.

2. Failing to Make Much of A Free Agency Splash

This one was to be expected, especially after the way the team spent to acquire Mario Williams a few years ago. That said, it was still disappointing to see the Bills sit back and watch as many of the top-tier free agents were snatched up.

The Bills should have entered free agency with one objective: re-sign star free safety Jairus Byrd. Instead, the team made little effort to re-sign him, and eventually watched as he bolted for the New Orleans Saints. No doubt, losing Byrd was the Bills worst offseason mistake so far.
