Free agent defensive tackle Kevin Williams has spent his first 11 NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, earning six Pro Bowl selections along the way, but he will be elsewhere next season.

Williams reportedly had interest from teams back in March, but he left a recent visit with the New York Giants without a contract. Assuming he does not choose to retire, here are five teams that may have renewed interest in Williams.

The Patriots struggled to stop the run last season, in part due to nose tackle Vince Wilfork missing 12 games with an Achilles’ injury. If Williams is willing to be a versatile defensive line piece after spending his entire career in a 4-3 scheme, the Patriots may swoop in and sign him.

4. Chicago Bears

The Bears still have a need along their defensive line, so Williams could join former teammate Jared Allen in Chicago.

The Cowboys’ defense still needs all the help it can get under newly appointed defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, so Williams could be a fit if he is not looking to break the bank.

Williams would reunite with former Vikings’ head coach Leslie Frazier, who is now Tampa Bay’s defensive coordinator. The Buccaneers will run a similar defensive scheme to what Minnesota has in recent years under head coach Lovie Smith, so Williams’ transition would be fairly seamless.

The Falcons may still be looking to improve the league’s 31st-ranked run defense from last season. As Williams nears the end of his career and the Falcons look to re-establish themselves as a Super Bowl contender, the two sides look like a good fit.
