With eight draft picks at their disposal, including three in the fourth round, the Detroit Lions are ready to do some damage in the 2014 NFL Draft. With a new head coach and a solid core in place, the Lions are looking to the future, and here are five names in this year’s draft that Detroit fans need to know.

5. Chris Davis, CB, Auburn

The Lions need to take a cornerback at some point in the draft, and because this class is rather deep at that position, they can afford to wait until Day 3 to pick one if they want to address their other needs first. Davis will be the best cornerback available heading into Day 3, and the Lions will be sure to pick him up.

4. Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson

The Lions appear to be in the market for a wide receiver to complement Calvin Johnson. Bryant has great size and is a vertical threat, and after bringing him in for a pre-draft visit, there's a good chance Detroit takes him in the second round.

3. Jeremiah Attoachu, Edge Rusher, Georgia Tech

If the Lions go defense in the second round, they could look to add an edge rusher like Attoachu. He may be a little one-dimensional, but he can get after the quarterback better than most pass rushers this side of Jadeveon Clowney in this year's class. He would be a great addition to the Detroit defense.

2. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

The Lions may be looking to take a cornerback 10th overall, but they also need a safety. That position is not as deep as corner in this year's class, which means Detroit could take Clinton-Dix in the first round instead since he's the best safety available. If that happens, he could be the leader of the Detroit secondary for a long time to come.

Most mock drafts have the Lions taking Gilbert, so Detroit fans should prepare for his arrival. The Lions could wait to take a cornerback later in the draft, but if they do they're not going to find someone with Gilbert's athleticism and ability. It seems like a pretty safe bet that he ends up in Detroit.
