With an explosive offense and laughably bad defense in 2013, these are not the Chicago Bears that their fans are used to seeing. Adding across the defense throughout the 2014 NFL Draft will be an obvious goal for GM Phil Emery in this draft, as he needs to land impact depth and talent on that side of the ball. Here are 5 probable targets Bears fans should get to know.

5. Yawin Smallwood, LB, UConn

The Bears simply need to get younger at the linebacker position. Yamin Smallwood is a prospect they have been connected to for a while, and it seems they will be targeting him in the middle rounds of the draft. What he lacks in speed and athleticism, Smallwood makes up for in field awareness and playmaking skills. He will not wow you with what he can do on the field, but Smallwood is a solid and tough player who is always in the right spot.

4. Deone Bucannon, S, Washington State

The safety-needy Bears are one of many teams interested in Deone Bucannon. He is a physical, hard-hitting safety, who is very intimidating to receivers crossing the field. Bucannon is also a great athlete who can hold his own in man-to-man coverage. He would be a great fit in Chicago and bring physicality back to their defense at huge position of need.

3. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

The Bears have struggled at the safety position for many years, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is the best at the position in this class. He is an athletic prospect who would be a great last line of defense for the Bears' secondary. It would be a mild surprise if Clinton-Dix were to be available for the Bears with the 14th pick, but I would not completely rule it out, nor would I count out the Bears trading up a few spots to land him.

2. Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota

While he may not be a perfect schematic fit, Ra'Shede Hageman is a very athletic prospect with huge upside, and that is the kind of guy that Emery seems to be drawn to. Defensive tackle is an obvious position of need for the Bears, and I think Hageman would be a good choice for them in the first round. There is some risk involved, but Hageman's physicality and athleticism gives him almost unlimited upside.

1. Aaron Donald, DT, Pitt

There has not been a 2014 NFL Draft prospect who has been mock drafted to the same team as much as Aaron Donald to the Bears with the 14th pick. Donald is a talented and productive player who would be a perfect fit for the Bears defense at an obvious position of need. If he is available at No. 14, which is somewhat likely, I think there is a good chance Chicago takes him.
