The Chicago Bears were but a few plays away from reaching the playoffs last season. Head coach Marc Trestman will be going into his second season after his offense was the second best in the league in 2013. Chicago is slated to play in five prime time games this season. They have star power on offense, and the defense is being made over greatly. They are playoff contenders in 2014, and here are Da Bears' six biggest games of the upcoming season.

After a down year, who knows how the Bucs will fare on the field in 2014. They have a top-10 pick in the upcoming draft and have been active in free agency. However, what makes this game big is the return of Lovie Smith to Chicago. Smith is a former head coach of the Bears who led the team to a Super Bowl during his tenure. He will be on the other sideline this time around and could also have former Bear Josh McCown at QB for this match-up.

Going into their bye week, this game will certainly be a mid-season litmus test for the Bears. New England can be a difficult place to win at, but the Bears may have an offense that could contend in a hostile environment. However, will they be able to shut down Tom Brady enough to leave with a victory?

These two division rivals do not like each other. Their two meetings each year are physical and intense. The game in Detroit this season will be on Thanksgiving. It will be the Bears' first Turkey Day game in ten seasons, and points could be on the menu in this game.

This game will conclude a stretch for the Bears of three straight games not played on Sundays. This will be a Monday night meeting in the December cold of Chicago. It could also be a potential late-season game with playoff implications. Chicago does have a knack of rising up during cold weather Monday night games. While the Saints did win in Chicago last season, the elements this time around could be too much for Drew Brees and company.

2. Week 2 at San Francisco

This will be an incredibly difficult challenge for the Bears. The 49ers are a top-5 team, Colin Kaepernick provides match-up problems for the Bears' defense and Jim Harbaugh can devise a plan to shut down Chicago on offense. This will be a Sunday night game and will also be the home opener for San Fran in their new stadium. The deck will be stacked against the Bears, but a win would make a big statement early on in the year.

This game is always a schedule-circler for both teams. This will be the first meeting between the Bears and Packers since Week 17 last season where Aaron Rodgers pulled off an unreal last-second comeback victory. This meeting will also come on a short week for the Bears. The game will play a huge part in the success of Jay Cutler for this season and also has possible playoff tiebreaker scenarios involved. Bears and Packers is always big.
