There will undoubtedly be surprises and disappointments in the NFL season this year, but based on last year's performance, we now know who seems to have the easiest road to the playoffs. Several teams that figure to compete have favorable schedules in 2014 and should take advantage of them if they hope to be competing for the Lombardi Trophy in February.

Opponents' 2013 Win Percentage: .496

The Chicago Bears are right in the middle of the league in terms of strength of schedule, mostly because of their uneven home and away schedule. They have one of the easiest home schedules this season, but one of the toughest away from home. This high-powered offense should be able to rack up enough wins to reach the postseason.

The Detroit Lions were a major disappointment last season, but they will have a chance to right the ship in 2014. They still have to figure out their inconsistent offense, but their favorable schedule will give them a chance to reach the playoffs.

8. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys fell apart down the stretch once again last season, and are turning into something of a walking punch line. Despite that, they drew a fairly easy schedule this year, and could surely compete in the very mediocre NFC East. The Eagles seem like the team to beat, but there's no reason the Cowboys couldn't sneak into the playoffs.

After faltering early, the Philadelphia Eagles really came on strong last season, reaching the playoffs. They could be right back there this year, as they aren't playing in a great division and have a favorable schedule.

The Carolina Panthers surprised everyone last season by claiming a first round bye in the NFC playoffs, but they won't be surprising anyone this year. Luckily for them, they won't need much surprise, as a good part of their schedule features very winnable games.

5. Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals built some momentum at the end of last season despite their early playoff exit. Now, they may be the favorites to win the AFC North title once again. With a favorable home schedule, only time will tell if Cincinnati can take the next step this year.

The New Orleans Saints reestablished themselves as a power in the NFC last season, and will look to continue that this season. It shouldn't be a huge challenge, as they welcome plenty of beatable opponents to the Superdome in 2014. The NFC South might be a tougher division this season, but the Saints should be the favorites in the division.

The Pittsburgh Steelers finished off the season as one of the hottest teams in the league last year. Unfortunately, they dug themselves too deep a hole early on to reach the playoffs. That may not be the case this season, as they have one of the easiest overall schedules in all of football.

2. Baltimore Ravens

After winning the Super Bowl in 2012, the Baltimore Ravens majorly let down last season. Running back Ray Rice had his fair share of issues on and off the field, and the team suffered. What may end that suffering is the fact they got a schedule that features 10+ games that they can realistically win.

Andrew Luck and co. took a big step as a team last season, reaching the AFC divisional round of the playoffs. This season looks even brighter, as Luck has another year of experience under his belt and the team has by far the easiest schedule in the league. It's a failure if they don't get five divisional wins. Overall, their schedule is very soft, which could mean a first round bye in the playoffs.
