The weeks and months leading up to the NFL Draft have kept the rumor mill running incessantly. For the Cleveland Browns, the offseason has been a whirlwind — especially with rumors pertaining to the draft. Those rumors will be laid to rest when the draft kicks off next week. With the date drawing near, here's a look at five last-minute draft rumors for the Browns.

Bortles to Cleveland has been long-rumored, but this week Peter King wrote about how Cleveland has been enamored with the UCF quarterback. With two selections (No. 4, 26) in the draft, Cleveland appears to be seeking a quarterback with the No. 26 pick and the best overall player available at No. 4. While Bortles would be a great addition to the Browns, it doesn’t seem likely.

Next week the Browns will be looking to add multiple defensive backs to their roster via the draft. The Browns have solid starters in cornerback Joe Haden and strong safety Donte Whitner, but have questions at the opposite CB and free safety positions. Look for the Browns to add at least one safety and cornerback at different points during the draft, seeking to solidify their defensive backfield.

The Browns' draft plans have been impossible to pinpoint thus far, and the uncertainty of their plan at No. 4 has been no different. With gaps at multiple positions, every top 10 prospect has been mentioned as a possibility for the Browns. However, quarterbacks like Manziel, Bortles and Bridgewater have been mentioned less and less as potential Cleveland picks leading up to the draft. Look for the Browns to skip a QB at No. 4.

Earlier this week, Browns General Manager Ray Farmer said that if the Browns were to draft Watkins, his impact would be “Big, big, really big, ginormous.” Farmer would go on to say “He’s a good football player. He’s explosive. He’s got really good hands. He’s demonstrated he can run all the routes. He can be productive. So saddle him on the opposite side of Josh Gordon and wow.” Farmer spoke highly of all possible picks, but raved about Watkins.

The one name that has continuously popped up in Browns’ draft rumors has been Fresno State QB Derek Carr; he is the reason why draft experts see the Browns shying away from a QB with the No. 4 selection. While the top available quarterbacks look like viable options, the perception is that there isn’t much disparity between them, allowing the Browns to hold off until their second selection in order to nab their potential franchise quarterback.
