Updated 2014 NFL Draft Prospect Profile: CB Jason Verrett
An outstanding, young talent, Jason Verrett will be entering the NFL draft ranked among the best of the 2014 class of cornerbacks. He could be an excellent addition to any team in the market for an aggressive defensive back, so let's go ahead and check out Verrett's updated prospect profile.
New York Jets
St. Louis Rams
4.38 40-yard dash
39.0-inch vertical jump
128.0-inch broad jump
1. Carolina Panthers
2. New Orleans Saints
3. San Francisco 49ers
The Panthers said goodbye to Captain Munnerlyn, so a CB is a must for them. The Saints are in need of another CB alongside Keenan Lewis and Champ Bailey, especially after parting ways with Jabari Greer. Verrett could be an excellent option for the 49ers as well to help the defense keep up with Seattle in the NFC West.
His productive collegiate career and outstanding performance at the combine helped lock him in amongst the top five cornerback prospects in the draft. He may be undersized, but because of his speed and aggressive man-to-man skills, Jason Verrett plays much bigger than he actually is. His size and explosiveness are ideal for the nickelback spot and maybe even a No. 1 or 2 spot with a little experience. Jason Verrett has serious NFL potential.
Rumor has it, Verrett said that he would be a great fit for the Panthers to replace Captain Munnerlyn. He is undersized at 5'9", but so was Munnerlyn at only 5'8". He stated that smaller Pro Bowl-caliber guys like Munnerlyn, Brent Grimes and Tyrann Mathieu all motivate him even more to make plays on the field. That is definitely something coaches want to hear.
