On the first of May, Indianapolis Colts GM Ryan Grigson held his annual pre-draft press conference. For 30 minutes, Grigson took questions from reporters on various topics, including new free agent signings and the depth of certain positions heading into the draft. Here are the five takeaways from that press conference.

5. Expect a lot of Josh McNary in 2014

Grigson had nothing but praise about former Army linebacker Josh McNary. McNary was a hot prospect coming out of college, but took time off to complete two years of active military service. He was acquired last year and according to Grigson, he "was going to be our starting nickel until he hurt his hamstring." Grigson expects a big 2014-15 from McNary.

When asked about the safety position, Grigson said they are "going to get guys that can challenge early." At safety in particular, they want guys who aren't a true free or strong safety. They want safeties who are interchangeable. Grigson said only a few safeties in the draft can both cover and tackle. It's never a perfect world, but if they can find a safety who can do both well, then they are doing pretty good.

3. Expect a good haul of undrafted players

Grigson stated that the Colts would "really focus on after the draft" and to "look beyond the 53-man roster and give plenty of guys a chance to make a splash at camp." With such a deep draft, the Colts will have to "go at them all guns blazing" to secure the top UDFAs. Someone like Troy wide receiver Eric Thomas will be a target.

2. As expected, Ryan Grigson open to trades

Grigson stated that they're keeping their options open regarding trading ,up but with only five picks, they are fairly limited. "If we feel their is a player we absolutely have to have, we will consider it." When asked about collecting picks, Grigson said the team will "need willing partners", which will be tough to find in a draft this deep.

1. Stop asking about Trent Richardson

Grigson seemed very annoyed when asked about Trent Richardson. He quickly cut to the point with the reporter and said "lets wait until we see the guy in pads, this horse has been dead and buried for months. Trent is in a good place right now and is working his tail off." Grigson then stated he was happy with the RB position on the roster and that the competition is strong.
