Houston Texans: Johnny Manziel Wouldn’t Be Worst First-Round Pick

Even following a surprising and disappointing 2-14 season a year ago, things are looking up for the Houston Texans. They hold the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday night’s draft, and with that they can either add a playmaker on either side of the ball or trade it for even more high quality picks. No matter what they do, the Texans are in a good position draft-wise. Someone who could really change their franchise on the field and at the ticket gate would be Johnny Manziel. Even though they could surely take defensive beast Jadeveon Clowney, Manziel could be the best option for the team.

Manziel left Texans in awe for the last two seasons, so why not join one of the two professional teams in the state? He will make the team the most money and will probably help the team to the most wins as well. Those two facts combined should make him the No. 1 overall pick tomorrow night. He’s flashy, he’s talented and he’s really only scraped the surface of his potential. While his rookie season  may not blow people away, with enough time to develop, Manziel has the potential to be a special player in the league.

There really aren’t a lot of ways the Texans can go wrong with the No. 1 overall pick and that includes selecting Manziel. Johnny Football would help them in a number of ways, especially on the field. So, if the Texans are hoping to add to the offense rather than the defense, Manziel should be holding up a Texans jersey with commissioner Roger Goodell just a couple minutes into Thursday night’s draft.
