2014 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears Continue To Address Needs With DT Will Sutton

Coming off a season in which they surrendered over 160 yards rushing per game, the Chicago Bears have addressed their weakness along the defensive line with their second and third-round picks, choosing Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton. General manager Phil Emery has once again identified a weakness on his team and started filling those holes during the draft.

Last season it was along the offensive line that the team had plenty of issues. Emery and company were able to find gold in the draft by taking Kyle Long in the first round and Jordan Mills in the fifth round, both of whom would start all 16 games for the Bears. Long would go on to make the Pro Bowl.

Now, after three rounds of this edition of the NFL Draft, Emery has taken a CB and two defensive tackles. With the top four safeties coming off the board in the late first round, the Bears will have to hope to find late-round gold again this season, much like Mills was last season.

With the aging Jeremiah Ratliff, the only DT the team has signed beyond this season, the Bears were in definite need of depth along the defensive line this weekend. After these picks, along with the additions of Jared Allen, Willie Young, and Lamarr Houston, the Bears will have solid talent across the entire line, something that has been missing the past two years.

Hopefully Phil Emery still has a few tricks up his sleeve as the Bears still have four draft picks remaining, and are still in need of help at safety and depth at running back.
