Cleveland Browns Rumors: Josh Gordon Suspension Could Ruin Johnny Manziel Pick
The buzz surrounding the Cleveland Browns after the selection of Johnny Manziel hasn’t even wore off yet, and it looks a situation involving Josh Gordon could sober up fans in quick fashion. Rumors are flying across the internet that the WR is facing a season-long suspension for a second failed drug test for marijuana.
When reached for comment by ESPN, Gordon responded with:
“That’s something you’re going to have to talk to Drew Rosenhaus about. I really don’t know anything about it. I’m going to have to find out about that later. You need to call Drew.”
Rosenhaus is of course Gordon’s agent, and he’s calling the rumors false.
But if they are true, the Browns are in big trouble. Gordon had one heck of a breakout season in 2013, hauling in 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine TDs. He did all of that while the Browns utilized three different QBs throughout the season.
With Manziel set to join the Browns, hopes were sky high in Cleveland with thoughts of him and Gordon being a top-notch 1-2 punch for years and years to come. Obviously all of that is still on the table, but now everything is on hold until we get clarification on the WR’s possible suspension.
For the sake of the Browns franchise you hope that the rumors are false. But if Gordon is dumb enough to continue toking up, then you can’t really feel bad for him specifically.
It’s safe to say — Cleveland fans have been brought back down to Earth.
